Mallikarjun Kharge replaces Mohan Prakash as Cong GS in-charge of Maha
NEW DELHI: Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Friday dropped Mohan Prakash (67) from his post as AICC general secretary in-charge of Maharashtra, replacing him with Mallikarjun Kharge (75), Karnataka MP and leader of Congress in Lok Sabha, as the new general secretary in-charge. Assisting Kharge, a Dalit leader, in Maharashtra will be three new AICC secretaries: Sonal Patel from Gujarat, Ashish Dua from Haryana and Sampath Kumar from Telangana. Earlier, Mohan Prakash had also been in-charge of Madhya Pradesh and headed a score of screening committees, including one in Uttar Pradesh. AICC General Secretary Ashok Gehlot, who was single-handedly carrying out the responsibility as in-charge of the organisation on Friday got three new aides — Andhra MP J D Seelam and former Seva Dal chief Mahendra Joshi from MP as Secretaries and Shashi Kant Sharma as joint secretary attached to him.
