Politics in the Valley
After being a partner in pushing Jammu and Kashmir to the present state of anarchy and terrorism, the BJP has preferred to ditch its political partner PDP for selfish ends, particularly keeping the Parliamentary elections of 2019 in mind. They prefer to contest the general elections polarising the Hindu voters using the Hindutva plank for which their cessation from the PDP is necessary. There is no other holy reason for the saffron party to abhor the PDP with whom they had formed the unholy alliance just to be in power. Their speaking about national integration and curbing terrorist acts cut no ice as they had been a party to all this in the past three years of the PDP-BJP rule in J&K. By their act, the BJP has demonstrated beyond doubt that they would stoop down to any level to drop their political partners as
hot potatoes to achieve their selfish ends. This betrayal of the BJP should be an eye opener to the leaders of all other parties that have political partnership with the BJP, particularly Nitish Kumar of JD(U) and Udhav Thackre of Shiv Sena. — Tharcius S Fernando
