Vimal Mariwala stars in Radio ‘Tigers’ win

Producing a steady consistent performanc­e Vimal Mariwal played a responsibl­e role and inspired Radio ‘Tigers’ to a 3-2 win against NSCI ‘Gunners’ in a round of 32 match of the Z3 Zodiac Clothing & Otters Club sponsored Otters-BSAM Mumbai Snooker League.

The seasoned Radio Club cueist Mariwala produced the goods when it mattered most and won both his frames, including the crucial decider, which sealed Tiger’s victory and entry to the round of 16.

Tigers got off to shaky start as Saurabh Mehrotra (+45) suffered a 73-84 defeat at the hands of the experience­d Sarang Shroff (+15) in the 15red singles first frame.

But, the Radio Club’s doubles combinatio­n of Merzi Screwala and Badar Karimi (+27) pulled off a 67-57 win against the NSCI pair of Sagar Desai and Subhojit Roy (+25) in the 9-red doubles second frame to level the scores at 1-all.

Later, Mariwala (+40) came up with a commendabl­e effort to tame NSCI’s Samay Wadhwa (+40) 93-47 in the 15red singles third frame to put Radio Club in the lead.

Shroff once showed his class and scored another win this time he defeated Screwala (+30) 86-74 to put NSCI on level terms and take the contest to the wire.

In the fifth frame, Mariwala potted steadily to overcome Subhojit Roy (+50) 109-95 and complete a satisfacto­ry verdict for the Radio Club team.
