Nerul Police found the body of 17-year-old Mihir Mishra on Tuesday afternoon. Mihir, a student of Apeejay school at Nerul, had appeared for his Class 12 internal exams on July 19, after which he had sent a message to his father at 4.30pm on the same day, saying 'U all take care, I will not bother u again'. Police suspect Mihir committed suicide.

On Wednesday afternoon, Vashi Police received a call from the local fishermen about a body floating in Vashi creek.

According to Sachin Rane, senior police inspector, Nerul police, “Mihir’s decomposed body was found on Tuesday evening. We suspecting he has committed suicide since during investigation it was found that he had an altercation with his father before he left his Antop Hill residence on July 19. His father Upakaranad Mishra had lodged a missing complaint after he got a message from Mihir's phone that read 'U all take care, I will not bother u again'.

As per CCTV footage, he was last seen alone at 3.15pm near Nerul railway station. Mihir’s phone remained switched off after he sent a text message to his father. There are no external injuries on his body which could lead to suspicion of murder. We are not suspecting any foul play in the incident.”

Rane refused to comment on the reason for the altercation between Mihir and his father.

The Police have registered an Accidental Death Record (ADR) in this matter. Upakaranad Mishra, an income tax inspector, had registered a missing complaint on July 19. Mihir Mishra’s last location was traced to Badlapur.
