Medical camp organised by N K Dhabhar Cancer Foundation

-

N K Dhabhar cancer foundation (NKDCF) conducted screening for cancer, as part of a medical camp in Deogarh District, in Jharkhand between June 21 to 25, 2018. This was the second consecutive year when such a camp was conducted. This is an area where no medical facilities are available and the residents of this Panchayat had never been screened for cancer before last year, when they conducted the first camp. People living here have very low incomes and no access to even basic health care. In order to support the rural population of that area, NKDCF team of doctors, para medical staff and volunteers visited Jharkhand to participate in this camp. During this camp 2500 people participated. Of this, 133 were further screened for cancer. All 133 participants were checked for blood counts, sugar and clinical examination by expert oncologists. Five participants underwent fine needle aspiration and culture (FNAC). Talking more about Managing Trustee says, “NKDCF specially goes out to such regions where medical facility is not easily available. Such camps are not only for screening but also followed up with required therapy.” NKDCF is Mumbai-based NGO which is known to promote and integrate cancer treatment for every patient whether curable, palliative, or terminal, as we believe every person has the right to live with care and dignity at any stage of cancer. The main objectives of NKDCF are:

• To improve the lives of people living with cancer by providing a positive, Happy, healing centre and support them on their cancer journey.

• To provide a comfortable and a restful place where cancer patients can spend the day – in the presence of compassionate medically trained professionals, including counsellors, and also a place where they can simultaneously bond with others in the same condition and be happy.
