The arrested accused have been identified as Bilal Ahmad Ansari, 20, a tailor and Mohammad Arif Shah, 25, a labourer in a powerloom unit. Both reside in Bhiwandi.

Police Sub Inspector Santosh Borade from Shantinagar police station said, “Bilal was arrested after the complaint was lodged on Thursday and later, the second accused, Mohammad Arif was asbconding. On Friday we arrested him from Bhiwandi City. Both were produced in court and remanded in police custody till July 30”.

According to police sources, the accused Bilal met the minor in August 2017. He lured her with a smart phone and raped her regularly. Arif was the minor’s neighbour and he learnt of her relationship. He blackmailed her into a relationship with him, threatening to make public her relations with Bilal. The girl became pregnant and gave birth in January 2018. She went to Bilal and then Arif, asking either of them to acknowledge the baby but was threatened and turned away.
