Anti-narcotics squad arrests nine Nigerian drug peddlers

MUMBAI: Nine Nigerian drug peddlers were arrested on Friday by the Anti-Narcotics cell of Mumbai Police.

Charles Ifini Ijia, 27, Okoro James Aja, 38, Mascalls John Dino, 32, Samuel Baju Okeni, 23, Ken Kon Ismel, 37, Kofi James Romalik, 30, Chikku Fry, 43, Nanna Harrison Agvu, 28, and Joku Humai Vachuku Pais, 32, have been arrested by police.104 gms of cocaine worth Rs. 5,20,000 and nine grams of mephedrone worth Rs.18,000 have been seized.

On Friday night, the police were on patrol duty from 12am, led by Shivdeep Lande, Deputy Commission­er of Police, ANC, to search for the accused. The nine accused were booked by the Jamsetjee Jeejeebhoy Marg police on June 14. They were arrested beneath the Eastern Free Way on Mumbai Port Trust road.

According to Shivdeep Landge, Deputy Commission­er of Police, Anti-Narcotics cell, “104 grams of cocaine and 9 grams of mephedrone were seized from the accused. The accused were also not carrying their passports on them. All the accused with common intention obstructed police from dischargin­g their duties and intentiona­lly attempted to injure four police staff.”

Ijia and Dino are Vashi residents, Aja a resident of Kalina at Santacruz, while Okeni is a resident of Nalasopara, Ismel is a resident of Diva, Thane, Romalik is a resident of Andheri, Chiku Fry and Agvu are residents of Malvani at Malad and Pais is from Virar.
