The Indians open their campaign against Sri Lanka on Thursday, August 9 and after a gap of three days will clash with the home team Bhutan on Monday, August 13.
Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan are other three teams participating in the championship and they have been drawn in Group-B. International and top seeded Divya Deshpande and unseeded Tanmay Rane bagged their respective women’s and men’s singles titles in the MCF-4 Star All -Mumbai table tennis ranking tournament, hosted by Mandpeshwar Civic Federation at their sports complex at Borivali here.
Divya settled the pretensions of junior Anannya Basak, who had caused flutters by upsetting a couple of seeds on her way to the title round.
But stylish Divya, displaying superb footwork and hitting her forehands with telling effect gave her no chance whatsoever and won 12-10, 11-3, 11-6, 11-8.
In fact, Anannya, who was in line for a double, having made the final of youth girls singles as well, ended second best in both the events.
Top seeded Aditi Sinha too overpowered her in straight games to clinch the youth girls title..
