24-yr-old resident doc goes missing from KEM hospital

Ajinkya Yogendra Maurya, 24, a resident doctor at the King Edward Memorial Hospital at Parel has been missing from the hostel since Monday.

On Monday afternoon, Ajinkya had informed one of his hostel mates that he was stepping outside the hostel premises for some work, but did not return. Since Ajinkya remained unavailabl­e over the mobile phone, his parents learned from hostel authoritie­s that he had gone missing.

According to Police Inspector Rajendra Mandhare, Bhoiwada Police, “A missing complaint has been registered on Wednesday evening. The reason behind Ajinkya suddenly going missing from KEM hospital is not yet known. We are coordinati­ng with the hospital authoritie­s and his family members to trace him.”

According to a tweet by Dr Varsha Verma from King Edward Memorial hospital, “Ajinkya was last seen wearing an orange polo T-shirt and black track pants. He left his hostel room on Monday and does not have his wallet or mobile phone with him.”

Ajinkya’s father Yogendra registered a First Informatio­n Report (FIR) with the police on Wednesday. Yogendra is a resident of Jalgaon.

Dr Avinash Supe, Dean, KEM Hospital said, “He has been missing since Monday evening and as soon as we got to know about it, we informed his parents immediatel­y and they visited the hospital that night only. Moreover, we are investigat­ing the matter.”
