Body of a seven-yr-old found at Ambernath, cops suspect vendetta

The police have detained a man who had a heated argument in an inebriated state with the boy’s father. They suspect that the boy was killed to seek revenge

Body of a seven-year-old boy was found at a deserted area on early Thursday morning. Identified as Shivam Rajput (7), his body was found by the police on Thursday. According to the Ambernath police, Rajput’s face was smashed multiple times with a stone. The police have detained a man who had a heated argument in an inebriated state with the boy’s father. They suspect that the boy was killed to seek revenge.

Shivam went missing from his residence on Wednesday evening. His parents franticall­y searched for him, but could not trace him.

Shivam's father approached the police and registered a case of kidnapping under the Indian Penal Code on Wednesday. Later, the police formed a team and while searching for the boy, instead found his body in the hills with his face disfigured with a stone. Shivam's parents identified their son's body.The body was sent for post-mortem and was later handed over to the family members to carry out the final rites.

Kashinath Chavan, senior police inspector, Ambernath police station said, “During investigat­ion, it was found that the boy's father had a heated argument with a man who was staying on rent at his residence. For the past one month, they would often fight. We suspect that the man might have killed Shivam to seek revenge. We have recovered the stone which was used to kill the boy.”
