Wadala GRP detain four teenagers for creating ruckus on Harbour line

GRP official said they had detained the youths on the basis of video which had gone viral on the social media platforms

The Government Railway Police (GRP) of Wadala have detained the four youngster who had created ruckus on Harbour line by performing stunts in running train and robbing mobile of a commuter standing at the platforms.

GRP official said they had detained the youths on the basis of video which had gone viral on the social media platforms. “They are the suspect ruckus and to identify them, the railway police force had circulated video and the photos of the culprits so that it will be easy to nab them. Moreover, the video was circulated to all the incharge police station asking them to find out when it was recorded,” he added.

In 2017, 133 were arrested for doing stunts and a total fine of R60,550 was collected, 576 were arrested for travelling on the footboard, which a total fine of Rs 2,16,750, and 52 were arrested for travelling on the roof, with a total fine of Rs 34,400 collected.

Senior railway official said the youths had recorded a video, which had gone viral, of them hanging out of trains and climbing to the roof between Chunabhatt­i and Guru Tegh Bahadur (GTB) Nagar stations, and then, snatching the phone of a person standing at GTB Nagar station.

Sachin Bhalode, senior divisional security chief, said they have been organising campaigns at colleges to appeal to youngsters to not do such acts.

“We had scanned the CCTV footage at GTB Nagar and Chunabhatt­i stations. Moreover, RPF keeps a watch on such offenders, but it is not possible to go after them when they are being reckless aboard a moving train,” he added.
