Prajapati’s mom refuses to depose

MUMBAI: Narmada Devi Prajapati, mother of Tulsiram Prajapati, whose date of deposition had been scheduled for August 6 along with Rubabuddin, Sohrabuddin's brother, on Saturday refused to depose before the court in the Sohrabuddin encounter trial.

When special Central Bureau of Investigation( C BI) court Judge Sunil Sharma ordered CBI officer Vishwas Meena to confirm with Narmada Devi if she would be appearing before the court on Monday, she responded to Meena with, “I do not want to give any evidence in this case.” When he asked her for a reason, she said, “I will tell my advocate.”

Narmada Devi, a resident of Nanakheda, Ujjain district, who lost her elder son Tulsiram Prajapati in an alleged staged encounter on November 26, 2006, while talking to The Free Press Journal said, “I have already lost my son what shall I get by giving evidence in this case.”

“All five daughters of mine are married, my husband and both of my sons are not alive anymore, I am living right now with my younger son’s wife and his kids.” she added.

Narmada Devi told The Free Press Journal, “I am not keeping well. At my age walking for some time makes me tired. In such conditions, I just cannot keep coming to the court. Now, I want to just spend my time with the little family of mine.”

On being asked what has she was doing to make a living, responding with a heavy voice, she said, "My grandkids are small so we have no one to earn money. Somehow, we are surviving by by selling clay pots and my daughter-in-law stitches clothes.”

After getting to know a huge number of witnesses have been turning hostile, Narmada Devi said, “I have lost my son even by fighting this case I won’t be getting him back.”

Tulsiram Prajapati was the driver of gangster Sohrabuddin Sheikh he was killed right after a year Sohrabuddin was killed in a staged encounter when he was in police custody.
