Transfer me if it solves Nashik’s problems: Mundhe

-

Peeved by the frequent transfers, Commissioner of Nashik Municipal Corporation Tukaram Mundhe has challenged the state government to transfer him if it solve Nashik's problems. He said he used to this shunting. "If my transfer solves Nashik's problems, then so be it," said Mundhe. "I do feel bad for being transferred frequently, but is the call of the state administration," he added.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) corporators have decided to go ahead with their no-confidence against Mundhe.

The gleam of hope in this embroglio is, the Nashik citizens have rooted for Mundhe, who believe the corporators have over stepped. There have been protests against the proposed move to transfer Mundhe. The residents of Nashik have also vented their ire online.

Mundhe further said, even though the ultimate decision rests with the chief minister, but the allegations against are baseless. The speculation regarding hike in taxes is being wrongly spread. "After I had increased the taxes by 40 paise, I brought it down to five paise. False allegations are being made against me, regarding the taxes," said Mundhe.

After assuming office, Mundhe had asked his officers to conduct a survey on all the illegal constructions. Shockingly, over two lakh properties are irregular structures. Rs 257 crores worth of road projects have been stalled.

"These were projects of Public Works Deparment because they were wrongly executed roads and they were constructed haphazardly during the kumbh mela," said Mundhe.
