Nanda files police complaint against Alok Nath on Wed
Writer-producer Vinta Nanda has filed a complaint against Alok Nath Wednesday at the Oshiwara police station. In her complaint letter, Nanda has stated a detailed version of the sexual assault. Mumbai police has assured her, a First Information Report (FIR) will be filed soon after a thorough investigation of the case.
On Wednesday afternoon, Nanda walked into Oshiwara police station along with her lawyer Dhruti Kapadia and requested the police to register a complaint. Nanda recorded her statement in the presence of a female police sub-inspector, in which she claimed, Nath had raped her on three occasions, including once when she was sodomised, 19 years ago.
A senior police official attached to Oshiwara police station said the complaint letter was submitted and the allegations will be thoroughly investigated. As per the High Court guidelines issued two days ago, the police have been directed to register a case only after the allegations are proved. Following the same, Oshiwara police will record the statements even of the witnesses who were present at that time. Amid the #MeToo row, on October 8 Nanda had shared a post on social networking website Facebook where Vinta had accused actor Nath of raping her almost 19 years ago. Following Nanda's allegations, actresses Sandhya Mridul and Deepika Amin backed Nanda and shared their experiences with Nath.
Meanwhile Nath has refuted all the allegations levelled by Nanda. He has filed a civil suit, Monday, in a court and registered a complaint against her for allegedly defaming him. In the complaint letter submitted by Nath to the magistrate court, he has demanded Nanda should tender an unconditional apology. However, when asked, Nanda's lawyer Kapadia said, “My client will not be apologising for anything. It was not her fault and there is no question tendering an apology.”
