RSS chief Bhagwat likely to speak on social harmony
This will be the last Vijaya Dashmi rally at Nagpur before the general elections in 2019. Mohan Bhagwat, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief is expected to speak on Hindu unity with the backdrop of the recent arrests of the activists accused of being urban naxals. The police have accused them of being involved in dividing the society along caste lines.
Bhagwat will address Vijaya Dashmi rally on Thursday at the RSS headquarters. Kailash Satyarthi, the Noble Peace Prize recipient and founder of Bachpan Bachao Andolan will be the chief guest. It is RSS tradition of RSS of performing ‘Shastra Poojan’ (worship of weapons) in the morning followed by a march around the city and is concluded with RSS Sarsanghchalak (chief) rally.
RSS office bearers from Nagpur, on request of confidentiality said, “The next year is an election year. Though RSS has not directly interfered in the micor management of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), RSS chief does give instructions and his directions regarding the strategies to be implemented.”
The RSS leader further claimed, “Bhagwat may speak more on social issues like construction of Ram mandir. The social peace is in danger as few groups are trying to divide the society along caste lines. Bhagwat may touch upon the recent issues and appeal to forget division on caste and religious lines forging the power of Hindus.”
Bhagwat had recently spoke on the issue of Ram mandir and had said the temple should be constructed. In an attempt to build pressure on the BJP government, Bhagwat had remarked, 'whenever truth and justice are ignored due to arrogance or self-interest then a Mahabharat could happen in Ayodhya.' This time, in fact, around 30 RSS office bearers would be sent to each part of the country including the North-East states to interact with intellectuals. This will be till October 25, to get feedback on the issues that have been raised by Bhagwat and they will submit reports to the Sangh.
These reports would be discussed at the meeting of the Akhil Bharatiya Karykari Samiti (All India Executive Body members) scheduled to be held in Mumbai, from October 27 to November 3. The meeting will be held at Rambhau Mhalagi Prabodhini.
