Enact law if facing difficulty in SC ruling to build Ram temple: RSS

-

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and its allied organisations have taken an aggressive stand on the issue of Ram temple after the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat insisted that an ordinance should be promulgated to build the temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya.

RSS spokesperson Arun Kumar on Monday while speaking in Mumbai said that the Union government should enact a law if it finds it difficult to clear the matter in the Supreme Court. Kumar argued the court has already ruled that a temple existed at the disputed place in Ayodhya. “The Allahabad High Court has given a verdict that the temple existed there. Now, it is only a matter of getting possession of the land to build a grand temple there. If there is some difficulty, the government should enact a law and hand over the land to the Ram Lalla Trust,” he said.

Kumar was speaking to the reporters at Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhi where the RSS will hold its All India Executive Committee meeting between October 31 and November 2. His statement is significant on the backdrop of the Supreme Court’s decision to adjourn the hearing on Ram temple issue till January 2019. “The court has its own priorities. We will fix a date of hearing before appropriate bench in January,” the court said.

Meanwhile, Kumar said that the RSS will review its major plans at the three-day meeting. “We will also discuss contemporary issues that need to pay attention,” he said without listing the issues. He, however, hinted that Ram temple, Sabarimala and Urban Maosim could be included in the list. “The meeting will mainly focus on the workers’ training and planning a strategy for next six months. No resolution will be passed at the meeting,” he said.

At least 350 delegates including sanghchalak, karyawah and pracharaks of 11 zones and 43 prants are expected to attend the meeting. Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat and Sarkaryawah Suresh Joshi will address the meeting.
