A government medical officer and his aide were nabbed by the ACB on Sunday Parbhani district for allegedly accepting Rs 8000 in bribe for conducting a surgery on an elderly woman, an official said.

Dr Gajanan Kale, the Medical Officer with the Parbhani district hospital, had allegedly demanded the money to insert a rod in one of the leg's of the woman who had met with an accident, the Anti-Corruption Bureau official said.

Consequently, the son of the woman approached the local ACB unit in Parbhani, around 500 kms from here, following which a trap was set.

The official said Dr Kale, who is an MS in Orthopaedics, asked the complainant to hand over the money to his aide Pandurnag Dukre (27), a private person when the ACB team nabbed them this morning.

Further investigation is underway.
