SQUASH: Royal Strikers set up title clash with Hexa
Royal Strikers outsmarted the inform Phantom Stars to reach the finals of the 2nd Platinum Corp Super Squash Jr League, organised by Sportastic and Sportscast under the aegis of SRFI & Maharashtra Squash Racquets Association, at the JVPG Club, Juhu on Saturday. In the other semi-final match, Hexa Squash got better of Lightning Strokes to set up the title clash with Royal Strikers.
The semis were played in a best of 11 format where the first team to win 11 games would qualify for the finals.
Parth Ambani gave the perfect start to the Striker’s beating Rutva Samant 11-6, 4-11, 11-10 after faltering in the second game to secure 2 points for his team. Mithil Mahale and Dev Sharma put up brilliant performances to win their games against Soham Mehta and Priyaan Thakker in straight games scoring 3 points each to give their team a huge 8-1 lead. In the Girls U-17 match, Aishwarya Khubchandani was challenged by Aryaa Ogale but keep her focus to take the game 11-9. Aryaa proved to be too strong in the second game which she took with an Identical 11-9 score. Aishwarya did not leave things for the chance and took the third game with a comfortable 11-7 margin to take the score to 10-2. Kavya Anand fought hard to defeat Dhruv Khanna and guide Royal Strikers to an 11-2 victory over Phantom Stars.
In the semi-finals, Arin Khot and Anannya Morey won straight games and Jay Vaknali defeated the current Jr National Champion Shreyas Mehta 2-1 to help Hexa Squash defeat Lightning strokes 11-2 to advance to the finals.
