Modi told to apologise for unwitting decisions
NEW DELHI: The Congress on Tuesday asked Prime Minister Modi to apologise to the people even in the last lap of his government to the "economic anarchy of Jumlanomics" that wreaked havoc on the lives of the people. Its spokesman Prof Gourav Vallabh told a Press conference here that Modi is personally responsible for the systematic decimation of the economy, farms, factories and jobs, pointing out that the twin assaults on the economy through demonetisation and a flawed GST has finished jobs and destroyed the unorganised sector. "There are no jobs. Farmers are extremely distress. Rural sector is anguished. Poor is suffering. The countdown for Modi Government's exit has begun as just 90 days are left for the polls, even though it is trying to clutch at straws by announcing one Jumla (gimmick) after another," he said. Himself a professor of economics, Vallabh said the Modi government's gross financial mismanagement is also killing consumption and purchasing power, encouraging deflation, plunging exports, stagnating investment, terminating manufacturing growth and lowered the people's faith in the banking sector. Congress treasurer Ahmed Patel too on Tuesday slammed the government for the coal imports in 2018 touching record levels. In a tweet, he said: "3 years ago, the Government promised that India will not import coal from 2017 onwards. "Every promise made to achieve Make in India stands broken." Who is importing so much coal and why?
