Scottish, Cathedral in FINAL

Yash Kapadia strike in the 33rd minute, eanbled Bombay Scottish, Mahim to edge out Dhirubhai Ambani Internatio­nal (BKC), 2-1 to book their place in the final of the MSSA under-10 inter-school football torunament, at the Azad Maiden, here on Tuesday.

In the final slated to be held on February 7, they take on The Cathedral And John Connon School, Fort who scored a solitary goal win over St. Stanislaus, Bandra.

Scottish and Dhirubhai dished out good game of soccer, as the teams were locked 1-1 half way through the encounter. In the 33rd minute, Yash Kapadia found the back of the net which turned out to be match-winner.

Linekar to lead state football team

Striker Linekar Machado will lead the 20-member Maharashtr­a team in the West Zone leg of the Santosh Trophy football championsh­ip to be held in Solapur from Ferruary 7.

The state team is clubbed in group-B along with Gujarat, Rajasthan and Dadra Nagar Haveli. In the opening match Maharashtr­a meet Gujarat on Friday and then take on Dadra Nagar Haveli on Sunday and play against Rajasthan in the last league match on February 12.

The team was selected after the probables were put through a strenuous selection process under the supervisio­n of Head coach Ritesh Inumula (Nagpur), Assistant coach Sachin Narsappa (Mumbai) and Technical Director Irenio Vaz (Mumbai).

Tarun Sporting hold Customs

Mumbai Customs and Tarun Sporting shared honours as they failed to break the dead lock in goalless encounter in a group-A league match of the 2nd Late Shri Vishwanath Anchan Memorial Veterans’ Football Tournament, at the Karnatak SA ground, Cross Maidan here on Tuesday.

Tarun Sporting had also drawn goalless with defending champions Air India in their opener. The outcome of the final group match between Air India and Customs on Thursday will decide which team advances to the semi-finals.

Earlier, Ordnance Factory, Ambernath and Rudra Football Axademy shared the spoils as they played out a 1all draw in an exciting Group-D league match. Karnatak SA, the third team in the group had defeated Ordnance Factory 3-1 on Monday. In the first match of the day, Central Railway were locked in a goalless stalemate with Tiger Foundation in a GroupC encounter.

ONGC outplay Century Rayon

Oil and Natural Gas Corporatio­n (ONGC) struck form in the second session to outplay Century Rayon coasting to a 3-0 win in an Elite Division match of the RustomjeeM­DFA League 2018-2019 and played at the Cooperage football ground. Sanika shines in RR victory
