The winners of Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) lottery for 1,384 houses must now prove their eligibility in order to get the letter of allotment. A MHADA official said, “The winners will have to submit documents like Aadhaar, domicile certificate, PAN cards, proof of income status and other necessary forms to the nearest Axis Bank branch between February 15 and March 15. The bank will then send those scanned documents to MHADA for further scrutiny. MHADA will then require some 45 days to examine these documents, following which, eligible winners will get letters of allotment.” The Mumbai Housing Board had received more than 1.64 lakh applications for the 1,384 houses, which included three flats costing Rs 4.99 crore, Rs 5.8 crore and Rs 5.13 crore each. For the first time, MHADA allowed people to apply for these expensive houses, located in Mumbai's upscale Cumballa Hill. The lottery offered 63 houses for the economically weaker sections (EWS), 926 houses for the lower income group (LIG) and 201 houses for the middle income group (MIG) and 194 houses were reserved for the higher income group (HIG).
