MBMC clerk caught red-handed taking bribe

BHAYANDAR: A junior clerk attached to the town planning wing of the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporatio­n (MBMC) landed into the custody of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) after he was caught red-handed, accepting a bribe of `1,000 on Friday afternoon. The accused, identified as Prashant Koli, had demanded the bribe to provide property-related documents sought by the complainan­t through an official applicatio­n. In response to a complaint registered by the aggrieved with the Thane unit of the ACB, a team, led by the police inspector, Salil Bhosale, after verifying the authentici­ty of the complaint laid a trap and caught the accused accepting the money at MBMC’s town planning office in Kanakia, Mira Road, at 12.30pm. The accused has been booked under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
