BK Birla College: Foundation stone laid for new building

It was a joyous day for students and faculty of BK Birla Public School and BK Birla College (Autonomous) Kalyan, who turned out in full numbers to welcome Rajashree Birla. After addressing the students of school and presiding over the degree distribution ceremony at college, she laid the foundation stone for a new building at the college, at investment of Rs 20 crores, thus giving an opportunity to cater to the growing educational needs of the area. Various social groups and prominent citizens felicitated her on this occasion. Rajashree Birla is Chairperson of the Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiatives and Rural Development (ABCCIR) which focusses on drinking water, employment and women empowerment issues. It assists in running of 42 schools and 18 hospitals and pays for education of 18000 students. She is a known philanthropist who has undertaken numerous social projects on Polio eradication, assistance to rural poor, enabling physically disabled, widow remarriage and activism against dowry.
