Need to develop industries capacity to adapt to standards: Comm Secy
The Indian National Strategy for Standardisation (INSS) is a dynamic document which will get more ambitious as technology improves. It is up to government and industry to work together to ensure an enabling environment is created for the adoption of standards, according to Anup Wadhawan, Secretary Department of Commerce, Government of India. He was delivering the keynote address at the Special Standards Conclave in Mumbai held on Friday. The INSS has been developed by the Department of Commerce, Government of India with robust participation from all stakeholders. The conclave, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), in collaboration with the Department of Commerce the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the National Accreditation Board for Certification Bodies (NABCB), the Export Inspection Council (EIC) and Centre for Research in International Trade (CRIT), is a first of its kind national level conclave in Mumbai after having a series of national level standards conclaves in New Delhi.
