ARE dogs smarter than cats? Ac­cord­ing to a study con­ducted by an in­ter­na­tional team of re­searchers in 2017, dogs have roughly 530 mil­lion neu­rons, while cats have about 250 mil­lion, mak­ing dogs the more in­tel­li­gent species. In com­par­i­son, hu­man brains con­tain 16 bil­lion neu­rons.
