Bad handwriting tops classroom worries
BHAYANDAR: Good handwriting is a necessary part of education, stressed Mahatma Gandhi. However, handwriting is becoming a lost art among the current generation of students. A writing examinationcum-survey conducted in some schools of the Mira-Bhayandar twin-city by the Gnyana Sharade Academy, a Karnataka-based education startup states the speed and handwriting of a major chunk of students was extremely bad and untidy. “Our institution surveyed a sample size of around 6,000 students from different schools, which revealed that bad handwriting not only impacted learning skills in a negative way but was also a reason for poor concentration and falling levels of selfconfidence in students,” said the director of the academy, Praveen Biradar, who has launched the Swachh Sundar Hasthakshar Abhiyan, with a specially-designed affordable 40-hour curriculum to enhance the speed writing and promote flawless handwriting in English and other regional languages in educational institutions across the state. The academy aims to train women, especially housewives.
