Gujjar agitation: Raj govt meets

- –Prakash Bhandari

JAIPUR: The Rajasthan government on Tuesday met to discuss the issue of Gujjar community agitation and it is likely that the government would issue a statement in the Vidhan Sabha on Wednesday. The government had earlier made it clear that it wants to talk to the agitating community, but their demand for a five per cent reservation was an issue which requires Constitutional amendment and the Gujjar community should demand the amendments from the Central government. Meanwhile, the Gujjars continued to block the rail traffic by staging dharnas on DelhiMumbai section. The railways cancelled 26 trains and over 200 buses were cancelled as the agitation spread to six districts of the state.

The district Collector of Sawaimadhopur has asked the leader of the Gujjar community Col Kirori Singh Bainsla to clear the track, but the community people are squatting on the tracks and said they would clear the track only after the state government meet their demand.
