Immaturity on show

-

Rahul Gandhi seems to believe that Rafale is his ticket to 7 Lok Kalyan Marg (earlier 7 Race Course Road). Not a day passes without him uttering yet another half-backed charge or a plain lie to embellish his case of hanky-panky in the agreement with the French Dassault for the purchase of two squadrons of advance fighter jets for the Indian Air Force. The latest is that Anil Ambani’s Reliance had already known about the Rafale deal even before it was formally inked. But a spokesman of Reliance rubbished the charge, calling it a white lie. He said that the meeting Ambani had with the French authorities was about “cooperation between Airbus Helicopter and Reliance Defence.”It had no connection whatsoever with the government to government agreement between France and India for 36 Rafele aircraft.” But Rahul latching on to a false report, accused Modi of ‘treason’, alleging that Modi acted as a ‘middleman.’ He did not stop there. Rahul said Modi had violated the Official Secrets Act and therefore compromised national security. And liable to be criminally prosecuted. This childish statement only underlines that the 48-year-old Congress President lacks a sense of responsibility and restraint. He should not rely on his equally immature advisors and instead get himself someone from the old guard in the party. Otherwise, he will only end up strengthening his Pappu persona further.
