Indian smartphone market grows 14.5% in 2018

NEW DELHI: The smartphone market in India grew 14.5 per cent in 2018 with shipment of 142.3 million units, IDC said. In the previous year, shipment stood at 124.3 million units. Smartphone shipment rose 19.5 per cent to 36.3 million units in the December quarter from 30.3 million units in the year-ago period, driven by multiple rounds of sales by e-tailers beyond the festive Diwali period lasting into December.
