Gopal Panchal of Accountant General Office tamely lost the opening game but showing plenty of resilience he recovered strongly to win the next two and overcome Sandesh Kamble of Dilip Kale Carrom Club in three games, 0-25, 25-7, 25-11, in a men’s singles second round match of the 6th Muthoot Finance-Bombay YMCA Mumbai District Ranking carrom tournamnet, at the Proctor YMCA branch, Agripada, Mumbai Central, here on Tuesday.

Former world No. 2 Mohd Gufran of Indian Oil Corporatio­n encountere­d a stiff challenge from Ankush Gaikwad of BEST Sports Club before pulling out a 2515, 25-7. Ganesh Macha of YMCA had things much his own way against Jaywant Kamble of LIC winning in two straight games. Macha struck the coins with pinpoint accuracy and consistent­ly and strolled to a quick 25-0, 25-5 win.

In another hard-fought match that went the distance, Naren Maru of Boricha Carrom Club waged a tough battle with BEST Sports Club’s Uday Dhotre before coming out trumps.
