MiG crashes near nuclear site in Pokhran, pilot safe

JAIPUR: A MiG-27 fighter jet of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed near the Pokhran Range in Rajasthan on Tuesday. The pilot ejected safely. The fighter jet crashed near Khetolai, the site of the India''s second nuclear test. “A MiG-27 aircraft airborne for a training mission from Jaisalmer crashed at 1810 hrs near the Pokhran Range,” an IAF official said.

The IAF personnel rushed to the site of the crash and brought the pilot back to the base. A court of inquiry will investigat­e the cause of the accident.
