- —Vikas Nag

MUMBAI: A man was arrested by the Government Railway Police (GRP) on last Friday when a commuter at Dadar railway station exposed him for impersonating a travelling ticket examiner (TTE). He has been identified as Vinay Pandey, 24. When a Chhatrapti Shivaji Maharaj Terminus-bound fast train arrived on Dadar’s Platform No. 6 and there was a rush as commuters were alighting and boarding, two men were stopped and asked for tickets by a TTE. Since the man was not in uniform nor was he displaying his badge, one of them asked him for his identity card. The ‘TTE’ displayed a card, but it was that of a private firm. When the man questioned him, the ‘TTE’ began to walk away. The commuters then called the onduty GRP constables. The impostor was arrested and a case was filed under IPC sections of impersonating a public servant (170) and cheating (420). The accused was presented in a court and was sent to judicial custody for 15 days. Senior Inspector Prasad Pandhare, Dadar GRP, said the accused was unemployed and thought of getting away with his act and make a quick buck.
