St. Stanislaus crowned Fr Donnelly Cup champs

St. Stanislaus, Bandra lifted the boys under-14 Fr Fr. Donnelly Cup, the MSSA interschoo­l hockey championsh­ip with a hard-fought 21 win over Don Bosco, Matunga, in their own backyard, St. Stanislaus Sports Complex, Bandra here on Wednesday.

In the final which was labelled as the clash of the titans, hosts St Stanislaus scored through Shayne D'Costa and Keon D'Souza, while the lone goal for the Matunga boys came off the sticks of Aditya Kabre.

St. Andrew's, Bandra, got the better of Dr Antonio D'silva School, Dadar 2-1 for the hardlinesr cup.

Karthik T. and Max K. scored for the winners, while Atharva Pharate found the consolatio­n goal for the boys from Dadar.

MCC, Blues win

MCC (Blue) garnered three points overcoming Jwala Sports Foundation by the virtue of the first innings lead in their third match of the inaugural four-team MCC Two-Day League, played at Dadar Parsee Zorastrian ground at Matunga here on Wednesday.

CCI Junior TT

The Cricket Club of India will be conducting their annual CCI juniors prize-money table tennis championsh­ip, under the aegis of the Mumbai City District Table Tennis Associatio­n, to be held at CCI table tennis room. Competitio­n for boys’ and girls’ will be conducted in cadet, sub-junior and junior categories. Eight top players (4 from Mumbai City and 4 from Mumbai Suburban districts) will be vying to emerge champions in their respective category.

Khar snooker

The ace snooker stars from Mumbai will be seen in action at the Khar Gymkhana Snooker Shootout from February 15. Co-sponsored by Rustomjee Builders and Nagee Cues, will be held at the Yasin Merchant Snooker Room, Khar Gymkhana. The snooker shootout, is a novel innovative format to make the sport more challengin­g, is certain to provide cue sports aficionado­s plenty of thrills and excitement. The leading players, which include Yasin Merchant, Aditya Mehta, Ishpreet Singh, Rahul Sachdev, Hasan Badami and Faisal Khan among the other will be seen in action in the two-day contest.

Karnatak SA held

Karnatak Sporting Associatio­n and Mumbai Strikers shared honours as they played out a 1-1 draw in an Elite Division RustomjeeM­DFA League, at the Cooperage ground on Wednesday. Results – Elite Div
