Sena v/s BJP: MBMC meet ends in pandemonium

BHAYANDAR: The general body hall of the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) turned into a battlefield after BJP and Shiv Sena corprators almost came to blows over the issue of construction of a proposed memorial dedicated to Shiv Sena founder, late Balasaheb Thackeray on Wednesday. Shiiv Sena members alleged that bringing the resolution back to the agenda after floating tenders was a tactical ploy of delaying the memorial, their BJP counterparts claimed that move was aimed to get a financial nod to fund the memorial. While some opposition corporators thronged the well of the house, a couple of them climbed on to the dias and damaged mikes kept on the table. The ruckus went on for than 45 minutes. Designed to showcase the momentous era of the life and times of the iconic leader with a blend of modern age technology, the memorial will come on a vast 1.80 lakh square feet plot which is tagged with a reservation of social forestation in the Golden Nest area of Bhayandar (E).
