LETTERS TO THE EDITOR A way out

-

Next to impossible

Apropos the Edit page article on cashless society, cashless society is a western concept which is not practical in India. Cash transactions are most convenient and trustworthy, without any risk of frauds either by cards or via internet. Once any data is put on internet, it ceases to be 100% safe. Corruption hasn’t reduced, with black money in the form of Rs 2,000 notes being hoarded. It is only in India that an honest citizen is made to beg for their money, kept in good faith at banks. — M Kumar The Gujjar protest and reservation is not shocking because after the recent economically weak section quota introduced by the government, every community wants reservation for the betterment of their members. However, it is not possible to give reservation to every single community in the country, but at present to provide equality to every citizen this is the only way possible, a totally hypothetical politics. Now, the government should prepare workable schemes to generate employment. That’s the only possible way out. — Mayank Khatri

Life without fear

The Citizenship Amendment Bill on Wednesday failed to get passed in the Rajya Sabha. As soon as the news came, Assam erupted in celebrations, saying it was the victory of all the people in the Northeast. I urge that whosoever comes into power this year, it should try to finish the matter, given that genuine people should not be exiled from the country. So that new generation in Assam could survive life without fearing as a Indian. — Mohd Umar
