Khan scores upset win

Unseeded Salman Khan of MLWB (MLWB), Naigaon scored a stunning 25-2, 6-25, 25-12 win over Federation Cup champion and third seed Mohd Ghufran of Indian Oil in an men’s singles fourth round of the 6th Muthoot Finance-Bombay YMCA Mumbai District ranking carrom, at the Procter YMCA branch, Agripada, Mumbai Central, here on Thursday.

Top seed Zahid Ahmed of Air India survived before beating the unseeded Salim Shaikh of YMCA, 25-9, 16-25, 25-10, while second seed Girish Tambe of MCGM had an easy outing against Hitendra Patel of BEST Sports Club 25-0, 25-1 to advance to the last 16 round.

World champion and fourth seed Prashant More of Reserve Bank of India also progressed to the pre-quarter-final round recording an authoritative 25-8, 25-0 win against Ankit Mohite of Vijay CC in another fourth round encounter.
