ACB nabs cop for accepting `40,000 bribe
MUMBAI: A Kherwadi police sub-inspector (SI) was arrested by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of `50,000 from a woman. The deal was settled at `40,000 for not lodging a complaint against a male accused. Both the accused and complainant used to attend a bhajanmandali group. According to a statement, a trap was laid by an ACB team to arrest Shyam Hari Ayre (34), a bribe to withdraw her case. The complainant’s claims were verified and an offence under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act of 1988, was filed against Ayre, at Kherwadi Police station.
