Maid held for robbing retd HC judge’s home

- STAFF REPORTER/

The Khar police arrested a 48year-old maid for allegedly robbing cash worth Rs 1.5 lakh from the residence of a retired judge of the Bombay High Court. The accused, identified as Leena Laxman More, a Santacruz resident, was accused of getting away with the cash while the judge was out with his family. According to the police, More, who works as a maid for domestic chores at different places, was employed at the judge's residence since six months where she used to work on an hourly basis from 8 am to 9 am. "On Thursday, while the judge was out with his wife and daughter to attend a lecture in Bhopal, More dropped in as per her routine schedule. After the family returned on Friday, they found that three cupboards inside the house were left open and cash worth Rs 50,000 from one cupboard, while Rs 75,000 and Rs 35,000 were missing from the other two cupboards," said a police officer.

"Since there was no one else in house in absence of the family, More is believed to have executed the theft. A case has been registered against her for robbery (section 381) of the Indian Penal Code and so far no recovery has been made,” added the officer.
