World Mallakhamb Championship India athletes make a clean sweep
India grabbed the limelight at the inaugural World Mallakhamb championships which was held at the Shree Samartha Vyayam Mandir at Shivaji Park, Dadar.
Undia with 244.73 points won the overall championship with Singapore and Malaysia taking the honours in that order.
It was a clean seep by the hosts as the men and women emerged champions. Himani Parab and Deepak Shinde were individual champiosn in the women and men sections respectively, the contest which attracted athletes from 15 countries which included Spain, Germany, Czech Republic, Italy, USA, Iran, Norway, England, France, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, Vietnam, Bahrain and hosts India took part in this two-day contest which was organ organised on behalf of Vishwa Mallakhamb Federation,and under the auspices Mallakhamb Federation of India and Maharashta Amateur Mallakhamb Association.
It's a great prevelige that it was held in India and most importantly in Mumbai," said organising secretary Uday Deshpande.
