Rajini not to contest Lok Sabha polls

-

Actor Rajinikanth, who announced his potential entry into politics over a year ago, on Sunday, declared he would not contest in the forthcoming Parliamentary elections as his focus was the “Tamil Nadu Assembly elections”. As of now, the term of the AIADMK Government would end in 2021.

The actor also made it clear that he will not be supporting any political party, thereby pouring cold water on the discreet expectations of the BJP that he might passively support the alliance which the national party would form with the AIADMK and a few other parties.

“No one should use my photo or Rajni Makkal Mandram and Rajini Rasigar Mandram flag or insignia to campaign or support anyone in the Lok Sabha elections,” he said.

However, BJP state president Tamilisai Soundararajan put up a brave face saying, “This would not affect us in any way.”

Incidentally, the actor said one of the biggest problems confronting Tamil Nadu was water and therefore, in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, the people should think and vote for whichever party they think can form a stable and strong government at the Centre and resolve the state’s water crisis.

The superstar also makes it clear that he will not support any political party in the forthcoming Lok Sabha election.
