St Stanislaus undisputed champs

St Stanislaus emerged as the undisputed champions, as they went on to win the boys under-10 hockey titles, after their seniors swept aside the rivals, to make a clean sweep in all the three age groups of the MSSA inter-school hockey championsh­ips.

At their own ground, here on Monday, it was yet again Don Bosco who were left with the silver spoon as the under-10 St Stanislaus got the better of them 2-0, to sign off the season on a triumphant note, netting once in each session.

A minute of silence was observed for the CRPF Jawans who were killed in Kashmir.

Hosts' Jorden Desmond soon got down to business as he opened finding the net in the 9th minute of play. Skye D'coata put tyhe issue beyond the rivals reach finding the target in the 26th minute.

Jaisinghan­i, Boricha advance

Gaurav Jaisinghan­i (+10 handicap) and Luv Boricha (+30 handicap) got the better of Abhishek Soparkar (+20) and Nikhil Patel (+30) by a narrow 3-2, in a second round match of the Khar Gymkhana Snooker Shootout, co-sponsored by Rustomjee Builders and Nagee Cues, at the Khar Gymkhana’s Yasin Merchant snooker room, here on Monday.

Jaisinghan­i prevailed over Patel 88-59 in the 15-red first frame, but his teammate Boricha lost to Soparkar 3347 in the 6-red second frame. Later, Patel and Soparkar showed good understand­ing to pocket the 15-red doubles third frame 87-42 and take a 21 lead. But, Boricha found his touch in the nick of time and defeated Patel 82-66 in the 15red fourth frame before Jaisinghan­i tamed Soparkar 8210 in the deciding 6-red fifth frame and seal the win for his team and advance to the round of 16.

In a first round match, the team of Mohsin Achhava (+30) and Karmesh Patel (+20) outplayed the seasoned Otters Club duo of Yash Babani (+30) and Steven Samuel (+30) 3-1 to progress into the second round. RESULTS
