Nani Palkhivala Arbitration Centre hosts annual international arbitration conclave
The 11th Annual International Arbitration Conclave organised by the Nani Palkhivala Arbitration Centre (NPAC) was held here on February 16 on the theme Arbitration Regime in India – Evolving Opportunities and Daunting Challenges. The conference, held at Shangri La’s Eros Hotel, provided a platform for international speakers from various disciplines to discuss challenges faced by the arbitration regime. The one-day event included stimulating discussions, interactive Q&A sessions and extensive networking between arbitration professionals. The conclave began with a welcome note by Senior Advocate and NPAC Director Arvind P. Datar, who emphasised on how India is slowly taking steps towards focused and institutionalised arbitration. “While the government over the years has taken numerous measures to improve country’s credentials as a preferred arbitration destination, I feel there are many other opportunities and challenges that need to be discussed in order to make legislations concerning arbitration more effective”, he said.
