VHP governing council to meet next month

AIBMAC will move SC to claim rubble of demolished Babri masjid

-

A crucial meeting of the Margdarshak Mandal (governing council) of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) will take place at Prayagraj on January 20 to decide on the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

A meeting to form the Ram Mandir Trust to be held in Mangalore on December 27 will also decide the agenda for the January 20 meeting at Prayagraj.

All major religious leaders, including prominent seers, saints and sadhus, along with the top functionaries of the VHP, are likely to attend the January 20 meeting. During the meet, the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens

(NRC) can also come up for discussion.

Sharad Sharma, the media in-charge of the VHP, said, "The meeting will discuss the model of the temple and its scale and grandeur after the decision on formation of trust is taken in Mangalore."

The Supreme Court had directed the formation of a trust for the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya by February 9, 2020.

Meanwhile, the All-India Babri Masjid Action Committee will move the SC, seeking rubble of the demolished Babri mosque in Ayodhya, said AIBMAC convener Zafaryab Jilani on Thursday.

The matter would also be discussed with the All-India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), he added.

The AIBMAC is also preparing to file a curative petition in the Supreme Court after its review petition was dismissed earlier this month.

"We could have raised the rubble issue during the review petition's hearing, but the plea was dismissed. According to the shariat, a mosque's debris can't be used in any other construction. The apex court has not given any direction on the mosque's debris," he said.

Jilani said the SC stated that the demolition of the mosque was illegal and unlawful. "The pillars, stones and other wreckage of the demolished mosque should be handed over to Muslims. We will soon file a petition for this," he said.
