Hemant retracts plaint against outgoing CM

As a good will gesture before he takes oath as chief minister of Jharkhand on Sunday, JMM working president, Hemant Soren on Thursday withdrew his complaint against the outgoing Chief Minister Raghubar Das.

Hemant had gone to SC/ST police station at Mihijam in Jamtara district on December 18 and filed an FIR against Raghuwar under different sections of ST/SC (prevention of atrocities) Act, alleging that CM had made abusive and casteist remarks against him and his family.

A case was registered for investigat­ion, but Hemant sent another communicat­ion to the police informing that he was withdrawin­g the complaint. SP of Jamtara said that the investigat­ing officer would act accordingl­y.

Meanwhile, Hemant today met RJD president Lalu Prasad in the prison ward of Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences. He later said he sought blessings of Lalu and discussed cabinet formation.

Chief secretary DK Tripathi met CM designate and requested him to take the oath on Sunday at 2 pm. He extended the invitation to Hemant’s family too, requesting them to attend the ceremony.

The rebel BJP leader, Saryu Rai who had defeated Raghuwar Das in East Jamshedpur today sent a letter to the chief secretary asking him to seal the chief minister office immediatel­y as he apprehende­d important documents and files were being destroyed

Of the 81 members of the Jharkhand assembly, now there are 52 MLAs supporting the ruling alliance. Two members of CPI (ML) and NCP announced their support to the alliance.
