Actor booked for molesting teen, files cross complaint

- STAFF REPORTER

The Oshiwara Police booked film and television actor Shahbaz Khan for allegedly outraging the modesty of a 19-year-old woman's late on Tuesday evening.

Police said the actor had gone to confront the complainant, his daughter's friend, over a squabble leading to a fight, when the incident is said to have occurred. While police are yet to make arrests, they have recorded statements of the victim and an eyewitness.

On Monday, Khan’s daughter was allegedly manhandled by her friends, who ambushed her near Khan’s Versova residence. Khan’s daughter was called on by her friends for calling one of her friend’s boyfriend at odd hours and was slightly pushed on the scooter. At that time, Khan’s wife came to her daughter’s rescue and sorted out the matter.

The next day, Khan went over to meet his daughter’s friend near Oberoi Sky Garden

and confronted the daughter's friend. “When Khan went to meet the teenager, he allegedly went with a wooden stick and touched her friend inappropriately, before hitting her. She approached us with a complaint and a case was filed against him,” said Dayanand Bangar, senior inspector, Oshiwara police station.

Police said they booked Khan under relevant IPC sections for touching inappropriately and outraging her modesty using word or action. While no arrests were made, police are verifying the claim. Khan said soon after the incident, the teen went to Oshiwara police station and filed an FIR against him without any proof stating he touched her in inappropriately. "To my disbelief, the cops too took her complaint willingly without any proof whatsoever. I was going to let go of their behaviour with my daughter, as they are all teenagers, but after this incident, even we approached Versova police station and lodged a cross complaint," Khan added.

Soon after Khan was booked by Oshiwara police, his daughter approached Versova police and lodged a complaint against her friend for assault. “We have registered a case and are investigating the matter, however the feud that led to the assault was over the complainant calling the accused teen’s boyfriend at odd hours,” said Bhushan Rane, ACP (DN Nagar Division).

Khan, who has worked in films like 'Karan Arjun', 'Masti', 'Ziddi', 'Arjun Pandit' and so on, acted in many TV shows like 'Yug', 'The Great Maratha', 'Betaal Pachisi', 'Chandrakanta', 'Tenali Rama', 'Ram Siya Ke Luv Kush', 'Dastaan-E-Mohabbat Salim Anarkali' and 'The Sword of Tipu Sultan'.
