A short break from democracy

- Shanmugam

India has a great reputation for being a vibrant democracy; no doubt with its flaws. With that said it is seen that the socalled united opposition criticises the government every day on some reason or the other headed by the near defunct party. No doubt a functioning democracy needs an opposition. One CM is continuously at logger heads with the PM. Another prince in waiting wants to know whether all funds being made under COVID-19 umbrella are being audited. Have the various trusts and other collections under the name of the dynasty ever been audited? None have seen even seen the light of day. No constructive ideas or suggestions are being put forward. Why can't the great united jamboree say let us all get together and work in harmony for the betterment of the masses, migrants and the downtrodden? The main thrust of this gang is to drive a wedge. Let us keep the structure of democracy aside for a while and embark on a new journey to save the country from disaster. At the same time, the government should not slide into an authoritarian role and disdain the genuine suggestion of the other side.
