Eating out: Mumbaikars tuck in
Restaurants, bars resume 'dine-in' services
After more than six months, restaurants and eateries put out the welcome mat for their patrons, offering dine-in services in Mumbai from Monday. While some establishments decided to get back to business right away, others decided to relegate the project to the backburner for a bit.
On Monday, most of those who stopped by at restaurants were daily officegoers. Establishments that opened were hopeful that more customers would turn up by the weekend.
"We have barely begun service. Many people are still apprehensive about eating out. Hopefully, things will get better in a couple of weeks," said Ramesh Iyengar, manager of a popular south Indian restaurant in Andheri.
Representative bodies of restaurants and bars said, even though the state government had ordered unlocking, there was confusion on certain standard operating protocols.
