U’khand: HC junks FIR against scribes Singer injured in celebrator­y shots

DEHRADUN The Uttarakhan­d High Court on Tuesday quashed the FIR registered by the state government against two journalist­s for cheating, forger y, and many other sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). It further directed the Superinten­dent of Police, CBI Dehradun, to register an FIR on the basis of the allegation­s levelled against the Chief Minister. The single-judge bench of Justice Ravindra Maithani of the Uttarakhan­d HC passed the order and granted relief to two Journalist­s – Umesh Sharma and Shiv Prasad Semwal. "The allegation­s as levelled in the instant FIR do not make out any prima-facie case against the petitioner­s," Justice Maithani said in his judgement. "Superinten­dent of Police, CBI Dehradun is directed to register an FIR on the basis of the allegation­s levelled," the bench further said in its order.

BALLIA Bhojpuri singer and actor Golu Raja was injured in celebrator y firing at the home of a local BJP leader in a village near Ballia, the police said on Tuesday. The incident took place on Monday night when Raja was per forming at the birthday function of local BJP leader Bhanu Dubey's son at his home in Mahakarpur village, Station House Officer (SHO), Garwar, Anil Chandra Tiwari said. Raja was injured and rushed to a private hospital in Buxar from where he was referred to Varanasi, the SHO said.
