Chhattisgarh: H5N8 detected in Balod

The samples of poultr y collected from Balod district were tested positive for bird flu. Chhattisgarh Department of veterinar y sciences confirmed the bird flu infection in poultr y samples on Thursday.

“The samples of poultr y that were found dead in Balod few days back were sent to ‘ Animal Disease Laborator y’ Bhopal that came on Thursday evening wherein the birds were reported H5N8 (bird flu) positive,” Matheshwaran V, Director Veterinar y Services, Chhattisgarh livestock development department said.

Except the samples of dead poultr y from Balod, other samples of birds sent from other districts were also reported negative, he said.

“We have shared the report with district administration and as per the set protocols now the district admin will take actions accordingly, Matheshwaran said.
