TMC selects 4 centres for first phase of vaccination
The COVID-19 vaccination process to begin in Thane city from today. Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has selected four centres for the first phase of vaccination.
The officials have appealed the beneficiaries to follow the social distancing norms at the selected centres.
"Rosa Gardenia, Ghodbunder Road, Kalwa and Kausa health centres are the four centres where the vaccine distribution will be carried out by the TMC. The beneficiaries have been appealed not to visit the centres unless they get the prior call from the concerned health official in order to avoid crowd amid the pandemic," said a TMC official.
A team of 100 medical helpers and officials has been formed for the distribution of vaccine in the first phase. This drive, comprising of two phases, is scheduled to complete within 132 days, informed the official.
"In the first phase, 400 health officials and sanitation workers will be given the vaccination. For the other phase, a total of 20 centres have been set up by the TMC in Thane city, which will be functional step by step. Besides, regular inspection of the centres will be carried out by the senior officials and TMC commissioner during vaccination process," added the official.
The vaccines will be given in two phases to medical helpers, frontline workers and to the citizens above the age of 50 years, informed the official.
In Thane so far, 54871 patients have been recovered from the COVID-19, while there are 1006 active patients at present in Thane city.
"On Friday, total of 74 new Covid-19 patients have been detected and one death reported in Thane city. So far the death toll has reached up to 1282 in Thane city," said TMC official.
